Anne-Julie Caron mesmerizes audience

Don’t let Anne-Julie Caron’s modesty fool you. She’s as beautiful in person as she is in her photos. And her music doesn’t disappoint either.

Mumblings from audience members at the Kipling Community Centre on March 5, not quite sure what to expect, filled the hall during the moments leading up to the performance. “Did you know what you were going to see,” asked one lady to another. “I thought it [the marimba] would be smaller,” the other replied.

Windthorst pulls together

Saturday, March 8 the Windthorst Lions held a benefit supper for Frank Wozniak and Donna Smalley. Serving ham and roast beef that was donated by PIC was the Lions Club members and their wives. Due to the towns people donating their time to make food or money to purchase food for the benefit they were able to feed approximately 160 people and raise a total of $4500 for the couple. Way to go Windthorst.

Davena Joy Farkas

Davena Joy Farkas (Grant), born October 1, 1939, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bruce Farkas and parents Dave and Rilla Grant (Jackson). She has left to celebrate her life, special friend Reinhard Eisbrenner; daughters: Debra and Jim Johnson, Patsy and Darrell Bernard, Cindy and Craig Steinley; and son Grant and Amanda Gooding; grandchildren: Cory, Amber, Melissa, Amy, Kyle, Brittany, Dallas, Ashton and Tessa. Mom taught school for a few years in Central Butte before staying home to raise her children. She was very involved in the Rebekah Lodge. Later in life, she ran a care home for fifteen years. Mom will be most remembered for her sense of humour. Special thanks to Stacy Fogal and the Palliative Care nurses who made it possible for Mom to stay at home. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Pastor Doug Loden officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
