For the past century, the building located at the corner of Railway Avenue and Angus Street has served to the population of residents in Windthorst, originally known as The Union Bank. The building reached final construction and opened their doors on October 8th, 1908 to cater to the banking needs of the people that resided in the Village.

A Hallowe’en dance for a spooktacular cause

Parents of the attending students of the Kipling Playschool will be hosting a Hallowe’en Family Dance at the Kipling Community Centre on October 30th from 7 pm to 10 pm. The Kipling Playschool board of parents have recently faced the issue increases in rent and other expenses, which increases the playschool registration as an end result. This has left the parents to fundraise to help pay for the added expenses.

Heraclitus said, “It is better to hide ignorance, but it is hard to do this when we relax over wine.” I have cast aside the wine bottle to write this.

This week a friend asked me to write a Faith story, some event that reflects my conversion or some deep faith experience. I decided to ponder before coming up with an answer.

Food Bank gets a designated home

Mike Zorn, of the Kipling Youth Centre, and Chris Toth, of The People’s Church, clear the newly designated Food Bank area out for future business.

Elizabeth Goodson, formerly of the Kipling/Windthorst United Church, previously took charge of the unregistered local Food Bank Organization that assisted families in need. Once the leading hands changed within the Church, food bank account was transferred to the Kipling and District Ministerial, as a whole.

Fall has its ups and downs

It’s rainy season, snows here and then gone season, cold and flu season but it’s my all time personal favorite time of year! It’s not summer time anymore and has barely reached the winter’s frost, but somewhere in between, the fall manages to portray such a natural beauty with so many hues of oranges and browns. A photographer’s dream!

The Kipling and District Arts Council was pleased to present the first performer in the 2008/09 Stars for Saskatchewan, the international touring artist and songwriter, John Gracie originally from Cape Breton, Halifax.
