The Kipling Chamber of Commerce and Health Foundation kicked off the Red Paper Clip Trade Day with a Put and Take Sale held mid-day of Saturday, July 12th.
Max Krecsy, member of the Kipling Chamber of Commerce, was informed of a garage sale technique known as a Put and Take Sale by a family member from Edmonton. “In Edmonton, people get together in a (designated) parking lot, people bring their unwanted items and are free to take whatever they want from the sale,” Krecsy explained.

Over the past few weeks, some residents in Kipling have expressed concern as well as outright anger towards the new taxation system the Town of Kipling recently put into place. With the new method, which is a base tax method, residents pay a more equal amount of taxes. The old method was based on a property’s assessed value, making some residents pay as much as $2,500 while others paid as little as $775.

Kipling minor soccer has reached the end of another fun and busy soccer season! We started practicing Tuesdays after school in late April with 83 kids registered in the U10, U8, U6 and even U4 age groups. This is the biggest turnout since beginning two years ago! The youngest age group was coached by Jason Balog and Lauren Grayson, Chris Toth instructed the U6s, and Paulette Guider led the U8 and U10s. Practices were successful thanks to the excellent and consistent help of many dedicated parents and high school students. Our hats go off to them in appreciation, soccer could not have happened without all their support!

The new Bell Park Gazebo is well underway
By: Darcie Thom
Construction was well underway at Bell Park recently. Heaton Redi-Mix poured cement for the Gazebo that is being built in the Garden area of Bell Park.
The Lions Club has been busy with organizing and providing the funds, and builder, for this project. The Lions Club donated the funds for this project by using the Kipling Community Betterment Lottery, which is an annual lottery that is used to collect proceeds for community projects. Lions Member, Elmer Teskey, is the person over-seeing the project.
There are still a few more details to finish on the gazebo, but when it is finished, it will be a beautiful addition to the Bell Park.

The aging interior of the Bekevar Church shows a true architectural beauty.
By: Darcie Thom
Looking at the Bekevar Church from the gravel road, one would expect that there may not be that much to look at inside. But, as the door was opened, all ideas were changed. There is a true beauty in the church, from the handcrafted pews to the wooden floors and the many historical pictures that hang above the entrance.
