As I See ‘Em

• Could 2007 possibly be more eventful than was 2006? It would be a bit hard to fathom, but considering all that is in the works, it could be an exciting time to be living in and around Kipling, once again. Consider that the scheduled unveiling of the big red paper clip is exactly one half year from today; and that filming of a real, Hollywood-type movie right here could begin within the next month or two, and that the Town named after a person could soon have a person named after it (see Council report) . . . what next?

Could the year possibly surpass one in which Kipling took to the world stage as the Red Paper Clip Town, hosted Saskatchewan’s Biggest Housewarming Party Ever, opened a new Medical Clinic, had one of its own cast in a movie role, was the site of the filming of a TV commercial and shared the spotlight with Kennedy and Langbank as the place where two children were rescued from an accused pedophile? Well, we’ll see!

Our understanding is that our own Nolan Hubbard will soon be Hollywood-bound, as taping of Donna on Demand is scheduled to begin January 29 in California. “Break a leg”, Nolan!

Latest word, too, is that the Fields department store chain has confirmed its interest in locating here. A meeting will be held in the next few days to firm up plans to construct the building they will need.

Happy New Year!
