Ever since he was eight or nine years old, our son Nolan’s favourite actor has been Jim Carrey. Nolan was going to be the next Jim Carrey. Carrey’s newest movie, “The Number 23″, is in theatres now and Nolan gave it a peek.
The premise of the movie is Jim Carrey’s character’s obsession with the number twenty-three. According to experts in numerology, the “23 Enigma” refers to the belief that all incidents and events are related to the number 23.
There are 23 male and female chromosomes in a child’s DNA, blood takes 23 seconds to make a round trip through the human body, the earth’s axis is on a tilt of 23.5 degrees, Psalms, the longest book of the Bible, is the 23rd book of the Old Testament and the famous “Divine Shepherd” psalm is Psalm 23.
There are 23 letters in the Latin alphabet, Julius Caesar was stabbed 23 times, Shakespeare was born and died on April 23rd, 2 divided by 3 is .666 . . . and on it goes. Look it up!
That’s all fine and good, but Nolan decided to do a bit of his own mathematics. It turns out that if you add up the numbers in his date of birth, they add up to 23! April 4, 1987: 4+4+8+7=23. His full name has 23 letters in it: Nolan Golden Lewis Hubbard. Count them! I know! Freaky!
By the way, Lewis is Nolan’s mother’s maiden name and Golden has been a given name in the Lewis family for a long time. In case you were wondering.
There was another little freaky fact regarding Nolan’s role in the “Donna On Demand” movie. Turns out, Nolan’s character in the story, which was written long before Nolan earned his movie role, is Ned Palmer, from some small midwestern town in The States. My Grandmother Hubbard’s maiden name was Palmer and she was born and raised near Arlington, South Dakota. Again, weird, eh?
Someone recently told me that there are no coincidences. Everything happens for a reason. I have always been more of a circumstances beget circumstances kinda guy, but this
“I like coincidences. They make me wonder about destiny, and whether free will is an illusion or just a matter of perspective. They let me speculate on the idea of some master plan that, from time to time, we’re allowed to see out of the corner of our eye.” - Chuck Sigars - The World According to Chuck Weblog, September 8, 2003.
