As I See ‘Em

• The rumours are true. The Citizen will have new owners and a new editor, beginning next week.

After much soul-searching and in the full realization that my heart hasn’t been in it the past couple of years, the decision has been made to get out there and test the job market. Readers will no doubt appreciate a fresh approach to the newspaper and it is hoped renewed enthusiasm from those responsible for producing it.

For my own part, it will take some getting used to, not needing to take a camera to the rink or the ball park or anywhere else for that matter, unless I feel like it. But I’ll get over it. It’s time to leave that up to someone else.

We have enjoyed our time in the newspaper business (or at least, most of it). We especially appreciate the friendships made over the years including those with staff, news correspondents and contributing writers.

We wish all the best to the new management and trust that The Citizen will be a welcome part of people’s lives for many years to come.
