Kipling and Kennedy voters will go to the polls on Civic Election Day, October 25.
Kipling will have elections both for mayor and for council, following close of nominations Wednesday.
Mayor Pat Jackson is being challenged by financial consultant Kevin Hassler. Jackson, who is a teacher, was acclaimed as mayor in 2003.
There are eight candidates for the six seats on council. They are incumbents Kevin Kish, Duane Leicht, Mark Olson and Darren Szakacs along with Rod Holowaty, Susan Kearns, Max Krecsy and Glen Kuhn.
Kennedy will have a new mayor. Ald. Tye Cancade was acclaimed as mayor following nomination day. He replaces Elmer Molnar, who did not run.
There will be six candidates vying for the four seats on council. They are Juanita Armstrong, Yvonne Bertalon, Barb Dixon, Jill Dorrance, Theresa Istace and Ken Margetts. Bertalon is the lone incumbent among the candidates for alderman.
There will be some changes on other councils in the area, but no elections will be required.
Wawota Mayor Norman Oliver was returned by acclamation. Also acclaimed were newcomers Neil Birnie and Garry Dickson, along with incumbents Larry Edwards, Don Horvath, Roger Larrivee and Doug Wight.
Twenty-year alderman Marv Carpenter did not seek reelection. The other council seat was vacated earlier by Rod Riddell.
Glenavon’s new mayor will be Herb Schmidt, who moves up from alderman. Neil Ennis will join incumbents Blair Arnott, Pat Hammond and Bill Sluser on the council.
At Windthorst, Trevor Parley will replace Bill Hengen as alderman. He joins Mayor Tim Dew and incumbent councillors Norm Jones, Rhonda Kapell and Doug Pusch, all of whom were acclaimed.
The Village of Kenosee will have a new mayor and one new councillor.
Lyle Basken was acclaimed as mayor, to replace Joan Seibel, who did not run.
Stuart Balfour will be the new face at the council table. He joins incumbent aldermen Wendy Currie, Jack Gilliss and Dennis Gustafson.
