Coloured Map of the USA

Scotty and Fiddy are in the home stretch.

The Scotty and Fiddy watch continues and we find our heroes closing in on their goal of visiting the fifty U.S. state capitol buildings in fifty days.

By Day 42, Tuesday, Scotty MacDonald and Matt “Fiddy” Fidler had been in 46 states, which might mean they will complete their journey with time to spare. Provided, of course, that they don’t take too many more detours. Not so long ago, the boys were in Mexico. Yes, Mexico! Their blogsite, hitch50.com, tells us why:

“That’s right, we’re hitchin’ in Mexico. We had a sign that said “New Mexico”, but some guy read it as “Mexico”, so he drove us there. Oh well, we’ll go with it and do some grassroots hitching across the top towards Tucson tomorrow. We’ll be on the side of the road on the highway 2 just south of Ciudad Juarez in the morning.

Hasta mañana,
Sanchez y Fernando”

The past six days’ travels have taken Scotty and Fiddy to:<

41. Springfield, Illinois;
42. Des Moines, Iowa;
43. Lincoln, Nebraska;
44. Cheyenne, Wyoming;
45. Denver, Colorado, and
46. Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Just four to go: Arizona, Nevada, California and (what was that other one again?).

Oh, yeah! Hawaii! We’re anxious to see how they work that one out.

By the way, the boys have now logged more than 19,000 miles!
