Red Coat Waste Resource Authority wishes to announce that plastic and tin will continue to be collected and again recycled. Unfortunately, glass has been discontinued until further notice.
Effective April 1st, plastic will be collected once a month and tin every two months. Each commodity will be taken separately to Crown Shred and Recycling Inc. in Regina where it will be compacted, baled and shipped to manufacturers using these materials. It will not be going to the landfills.
Although the cost of continuing to recycle plastic and tin has caused the annual operating levy to increase, the Board and member municipalities agreed it is the best thing to do for the future of our communities, our province and in fact, our planet.
Everyone in our member communities is encouraged to use the recycle facility. It must be mentioned however, that only recyclable plastic and tin, not metal, is placed in the bins. Also, every one is reminded that styro-foam of any kind is not recyclable.
The Board of RCWRA believe and trust that each member community will embrace the system and therefore benefit from it.
