Each year an award is given to a library called the Branch of the Year Award. The Southeast Regional Library, Kipling Branch, was fortunate to receive the award for 2007. This award brings recognition to the Library with an overall performance of activity and programs.
Throughout the Southeast Regional Libraries, Kipling has increased its circulation over 40 percent, while the remaining libraries have decreased their circulation by at least 5 percent. A new Library Board, numerous volunteers and the Kipling Library Staff have worked together in making an interactive place for people of all ages.
The Library offers a wide range of activities for preschool and school-aged children, adult computer programs (Introduction to Computers) and language studies (English as a Second Language).
The volunteers donate their time for the Preschool Story Time, the Outreach Program (delivering books to Rudyard Manor, Willowdale Lodge and homebound patrons), Library maintenance and book labeling and so much more.
The Kipling Library will be running the Summer Reading Program for 8 weeks rather than 4 and they will be staying open 1 more hour on Thursdays starting July 1st, 2008.
The Kipling Library will be hosting two landscaping workshops for Sara Williams (BA,B.Sc,MSc. In Horticulture) for “Creating the Prairie Xeriscape”(9:00am - noon) and “Small Trees & Shrubs for the Urban Landscape”(1:00pm - 4:00pm)on Saturday May 17th. Contact the Library to register, 736-2911.
The Kipling Library is funding for a new building so that they are able to continue the services that they provide, any donation is appreciated.
