The school year is winding down and with less than 35 school days remaining, it is sure to be a busy time until summer holidays.
On Friday, May 9th the annual Grade 7 to12 track meet will be held in Montmartre. Athletes from the eastern part of the Prairie Valley School Division will be competing for a right to attend the Qu’Appelle Valley District Track Meet in Regina. Students from Grades 7 to 12 not participating in the track meet will not be expected to attend school. Students from Grades 1 to 6 will have regular classes and will be following a Thursday schedule. Buses will be running as usual and there will be a regular 3:19 p.m. dismissal. If track is cancelled it will be on 620 CKRM and there will be classes for Grades 7-12.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Regional Science Fair in Balgonie. The students did an excellent job with our top three projects being created by Susan Fisher placing first, Julie Duke and Courtney Dayman placing second and Natasha Ku placing third. Best of luck to Susan Fisher who advances to the National Fair in Ottawa.
I would like to encourage all our pet owners to participate in the Purina Walk for Dog Guides Fundraiser taking part on Saturday, May 10th in Kipling. The event is sponsored by the Kipling Lions Club and begins with registration at 9:00 a.m. at the Kipling Recreation Centre. Pledge forms are available at various stores in town. Release forms for participants under 18 years of age are available at the school and more information can be found in the newspaper or by contacting Elden Gibson.
Our Junior School recently purchased a new portable digital piano for their music room. We would like to find a new home for the older “studio style” piano, if you are interested please contact the school and make us an offer. The new owners will be responsible for the pick up and delivery of the piano.
Our local School and Community Council is hosting an evening of campfire storytelling and sing-a-long on Wednesday, June 4th starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Kipling Campgrounds. Elementary students and their parents are encouraged to come out to promote literacy and enjoy a little relaxation.
Kipling School will be hosting a Grade 9 Parents meeting on Monday, June 2nd beginning at 8:00 p.m. in the school library. This will be an excellent opportunity to get a better understanding of the various changes associated with high school. Some of the topics to be discussed are the credit system, modified vs. adapted classes, open campus expectations, vehicle use, etc. We encourage all families with Grade 9 students to attend this meeting to become better informed.
Congratulations to Erinn Dew and Rebecca Windjack who advanced to Regional Badminton in Moose Jaw. There they finished seventh. Congratulations also to Peter Dayman, Kandi Heaton, Daniel Lyons and Travis Kish who are competing at a National shooting competition for cadets in Vancouver this week.
A reminder that Kipling Graduation is being held this year on Saturday, June 14th. The exercises will be at 8:00 p.m. in the Kipling School Gymnasium, and there is a $2.00 charge for adults.
Yours truly,
