SRC hosts Brad Johner for an intimate acoustic concert

Good times, good music, and good people, you can’t go wrong. Brad Johner plans to ensure exactly this by making sure people leave his concert with having had a good time.
Johner will entertain an audience with his acoustic performance in the Wawota School Gymnasium on Friday, May 9. The concert, which is being put on by the Wawota Student Representative Coucil (SRC), will raise money for the SRC to put towards purchasing new sports equipment, activity and fun days, and whatever else the council sees fit.
Ken Johner, Brad’s brother, will join the 2007 CCMA Male Artist of the Year, for the very intimate acoustic set. “I like those kinds of intimate shows,” said Johner. “It’s just us sitting on stools, playing and talking.”
Johner hopes to see a good turnout for the event. Since it’s a fundraiser, he agreed to play for a portion of the door, with the rest going to the SRC. The SRC also makes money off the canteen. “I want everyone to come out,” said Johner. “It’s a family show, a trio show. We’re just going to sing songs and tell stories, those are always a lot more fun.”
One of Johner’s friends, John who plays bass, plans to join Johner and his brother for the show in Wawota.
Right now, Johner stays fairly busy touring and recording his new album, tentatively called ‘The Other Side of the Radio.’ “I’m really excited about this new album,” said Johner. “It’s always exciting working on new stuff.” People attending the concert in Wawota may just hear one of tunes from the new album as he has started working one into his set. However, people will have to wait until the summer to hear the rest of the album as it doesn’t hit store shelves until the middle of August.
Doors open in Wawota for the May 9 show at 6:45 p.m. An opening act plays at 7:15, with Johner hitting this stage at 7:30. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10.00 for 12 and under. People can purchase tickets at Wawota Flowers ‘N Things, the Royal Bank, Conexus Credit Union, Downunders, Kenosee Inn, Wawota School, Moosomin Greenline or from any SRC member.
