Edythe Cowan and daughter Shirley Foot were privileged to attend the Miss Universe Pageant in Toronto. Edythe Cowan’s grandaughter was a participant representing Alberta. As a grandparent and mother we felt Sarah did extremely well and was a real winner.
These were Sarah’s comments following the ten-day event. The competition took place in Toronto April 18-28. There were 59 delegates from across Canada competing for Miss Universe Canada and the winner would move on to Miss Universe in Viet Nam July.
“The ten days were full of exciting experiences, excellent food, and new friendships. We saw Niagra Falls, a Blue Jay Game, the CN Tower, Inniskillin Winery, and the Major Soccer team. The majority of our time was spent in rehearsals, preparing us for the preliminary and the final night. The judging was based on your stage presence in your bathing suit and ball gown; with a strong emphasis on the interview portion. Our final performance was held in the beautiful Winter Theatre.
This was a once in a lifetime experience. I am overwhelmed by everyone’s support and am grateful to have been raised in a caring community.”
