Kipling and the surrounding communities are no exception. Each community organized at least one event to be held at some point during the summer.
Montmartre plans to hold an array of events on June 21 to help celebrate the beginning of summer. Events include a beach volleyball tournament, a Family Fun Day, a soccer wind up and minor ball playoffs.
All the events will be held in the Kemoca Regional Park, which is expected to include free entrance to the public for the day.
The beach volleyball games will take place throughout the day with teams of four on four. Each team must include at least one female. Entrance fees, which are $50 a team, will be divided up for first, second, and third place cash prizes. To enter a team, call 424-2040.
Both the minor ball playoffs and the soccer wind up will run throughout the day on Saturday.
Family Fun Day promises to offer people many exciting activities including a Velcro wall, dino bouncer, KFC supper and many other fun games - all for free. In the evening after the kids retire to bed, the adults (19 and over) can take in the Vern Michaels Band at the cabaret. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The Vern Michaels band plays covers ranging from country and rock to classic and new.
