Parents of the attending students of the Kipling Playschool will be hosting a Hallowe’en Family Dance at the Kipling Community Centre on October 30th from 7 pm to 10 pm. The Kipling Playschool board of parents have recently faced the issue increases in rent and other expenses, which increases the playschool registration as an end result. This has left the parents to fundraise to help pay for the added expenses.

In past years, the playschool students have fundraised through selling product like frozen cookie dough, but this year, the parent-based board wanted to change things up a little. “We are wanting to raise money through a fun event, we have changed the fundraising for the playschool all together,” says Kate Lowenberger, a member of the playschool committee.

Lowenberger stressed that the situation of fundraising is important due to the added children in the classrooms. “We started with 27 children enrolled and have since increased our numbers.

The parents on the playschool committee have organized a Hallowe’en dance as a fundraiser to reach their financial goals. The dance is being organized through the playschool, welcoming children and students to celebrate this upcoming holiday celebration.

As an option, students and visitors are welcome to wear their Hallowe’en costumes to this spooktacular event, which will provide its visitors with spooky fun and monster-mash music. There will be a $3.00 fee per person to attend this event, with all proceeds going towards the cost of the event and the financial support towards the playschool registration fees and playschool expenses.

The organizing committee will be selling popcorn and beverages to raise funds during this Hallowe’en celebration through a silver collection.

There will be free treat bags to the first 144 children that arrive to the dance and ‘trick or treat’ bags from the Plainsview Credit Union will be handed out to all of the children in attendance.

During the dance, parents and children will be welcome to take place in the Chinese (silent) auction as well as fun and games including a ‘count the jelly bean’ contest. A raffle will take place for a half of beef, 2 halves of pork and a $40.00 gift certificate to Frater’s Place.
