Mayor clarifies bid for name

To the Editor:

Response to last weeks letter regarding Town of Kipling Bid on Scott MacDonald’s name.

This letter is to clarify the town of Kipling’s bid to change Scott MacDonald’s name. As with all things, there is more to the story than what has currently been told.

The town was approached to see if we were interested in placing a bid in this auction for the purpose of publicity. This effort is to continue the exposure that we are receiving on many different projects. There is a condition in our bid that ensures that we will not win, in fact, if you surf your way to www.Changemyname.com you will see that our bid does not show up on the site.

Our bid does not become valid unless there is a higher bid placed.

This is an endeavor to raise awareness of Scott’s project and keep Kipling’s name in the media. It is not my intention, nor council’s intention, to spend any tax dollars on this project.

Kevin Hassler, Mayor
Town of Kipling
