To the Editor:
Sincere thanks to our wonderful trio of doctors. Their exemplary medical professionalism, friendly accommodating manner and dedication in providing Kipling and District with invaluable service are commendable and greatly appreciated.
A harder working trio of doctors would be difficult to find. Drs. A.E. and M.M. Mahomed and Dr. J. Steyn’s amiable personalities, medical knowledge, experience, patience, gentleness, sensitivity, compassion, and genuine caring have attracted many people who are proud to be patients of such trustworthy community oriented doctors.
“Family” doctors are gifted doctors who are able to treat a wide range of conditions of varying severity. They have a deep sense of responsibility for their patients and will go the extra mile to ensure their patients are receiving “quality care.” Our doctors are available to us seven days a week twenty four hours a day. They have made service to our community their life often putting patients before their own family.
I fear for our community should a decision be made to not allow our doctors to continue their practice give the lack of medical practitioners who are willing to serve with such dedication and passion in small town Saskatchewan.
General Practitioners (Family Doctors) are rare gems in the medical world. It is marvelous having a trio of doctors who will consult with each other and various specialists on behalf of their patients. Kipling and District is a large service area; we need to maintain our trio. Any fewer in number would be overload and too much pressure. There are generally not many vacant seats in the Medical Clinic waiting area. Our doctors are so easy to go to; we have all taken our loved ones without a moment’s hesitation. These caring doctors have seen us through many ups and owns in our lives. Though they are extremely busy our doctors will provide the necessary time and attention to each and every one of us so that, we as patients do not feel rushed. They put in long hours without complaint. Our doctors are interested in us as people; we are not just another number in their appointment book. They call us by name and are genuinely concerned about our health and welfare.
It is a sad state of affairs when after training and working as long and hard as our doctors did to be turned away when they are willing to stay and make Kipling home. The quality of service, patience, and understanding shown to all members of our community and other by our three doctors has always been outstanding and greatly appreciated. As doctors, I highly recommend them to fellow colleagues, family members and friends. They provide exceptional treatment. Nobody likes going to the doctor (White Coat Syndrome) but, if one requires medical attention it is far easier to go to someone who is easy to talk to and in whom you can put your trust. Their standard of medical care, exceptional advice and caring have steered several of us successfully through emergencies as well as day to day health issues. Our doctors take time to listen, are very thorough finding what others would not because of their attention to vague and early symptoms. They are willing to seek advice of other specialists which results in successful treatment. We are greatly indebted for their perceptive healing management.
Their dedication to their job and personal caring for us has been an absolute blessing. Let’s rally together, speak up, and write letters (to MLA’s and the Sun Country Health District) in support of our doctors who so willingly give their “all.” Our doctors pass with flying colors where it matters the most…. with their patients.
Thank you for your attention to my letter.
