Kipling minor soccer has reached the end of another fun and busy soccer season! We started practicing Tuesdays after school in late April with 83 kids registered in the U10, U8, U6 and even U4 age groups. This is the biggest turnout since beginning two years ago! The youngest age group was coached by Jason Balog and Lauren Grayson, Chris Toth instructed the U6s, and Paulette Guider led the U8 and U10s. Practices were successful thanks to the excellent and consistent help of many dedicated parents and high school students. Our hats go off to them in appreciation, soccer could not have happened without all their support!
We attended the Montmartre Soccer Fest June 14th, with the U10s playing valiantly against some same aged teams as well as older aged teams. They were excellent sports in the face of some very tough games. The two U8 teams played very well in their pool, displaying their growing soccer skills and ability to work as a team. The five U6 teams impressed us all with their skill, energy and stamina. Excellent work guys! Saturday June 21st Kipling hosted its first mini-tournament with a U8 team from Carlyle attending. Carlyle played the two Kipling U8 teams, and three Kipling U6 teams had games against each other. There was plenty of exciting soccer action!
Minor soccer will be moving to a fall season starting this September. We want to avoid any conflict with ball season, and will then have the opportunity to plan some fall tournaments with Carlyle and Redvers. Look for notice of registration in August sometime. Fees have already been paid for the year, so the only cost will be for team shirts which will be purchased this summer for fall league play. We will also be lining up coaching clinics and referee clinics. We can always use more help, and anyone can learn to coach or ref soccer, all you need is the interest! A big thank you again to all the parents, student helpers, community clubs and businesses in town who have donated time or money to soccer, we really appreciate it! Have a great summer!
