Kipling SCC plans to build a new playground for the Kipling School
By: Darcie Thom
The Kipling School Community Council (Kipling SCC) developed ideas for a new playground and activity project for the school and its students. The Kipling School Community Council’s overall goal is to provide students with a healthy, respectful and effective environment that they hope will enhance the schoolyard’s conditions.
The Kipling SCC is looking to raise between $50,000 and $60,000 for their playground project that will be built in two phases. Phase one will focus on creating a much-needed area for the Grades 7-9 (Division III) students who are requesting a fenced area and picnic tables, along with music needs. Phase two will provide Grades 4-6 (Division II) students with an age appropriate playground structure, new baseball stops, possible soccer nets, fencing around their playground and so much more.
The Kipling School has approximately 350 students and is in great need of a playground facelift. Some of the equipment at the school has not been replaced or updated in the past 20 years and is clearly becoming a safety issue.
The school is an educational facility to students from Kipling, Kennedy, Windthorst, Corning, Glenavon and Langbank and is in need of support from all of those communities to continue to provide a safe, functional and fun environment for the children to explore.
