Chili prepared by members of Kipling RCMP detachment is the stuff legends are made of. For the fifth straight year, the RCMP entry took first place in balloting at the Kipling Industries annual Red Hot Chili Challenge.

This year’s concoction was challenged by 12 other entries, but apparently none could compare with “The Force That Stays With You”.

The nearest competitor in the voting, which was open to the public and held October 18, was “Cu-Mato Hothouse Chili”, a new entry from Pusch Brothers Greenhouse which was also voted the hottest chili in the competition.

Third place went to Redvers Activity Centre’s “Southeast Sweet & Spicy Chili”, its best showing in the six-year history of the event.

The “also-rans” included “TNT Hollywood Chili by Nolan Hubbard and Theresa Daku; “The Best Chili Ever” by Kipling Industries/SARCAN; “Your Best Investment Chili” from Plainsview Credit Union;

“Ay Carumba” by Manns’ Foods; Rose MacDonald’s “Fire In The Hole Chili”; “Top Sweet Chili” by TOPIGS Canada; “Internal Audit” by Graham Dayle’s Chartered Accountant office;

“Competition Chili” by the R.M. of Kingsley; “Co-op Sweet Chili” by the Co-op Grocery Store, and Duane Leicht’s “Corner Gassy Chili”, allegedly endorsed by cast of the television hit sitcom.
