Eagle Drilling Services of Carlyle was named Saskatchewan “Business of the Year” at the 23rd Annual Achievement for Business Excellence (ABEX) Awards Dinner, October 28 in Regina. Over 600 people from across the province attended the presentation of the prestigious awards created by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.

Eagle Drilling Services was also the winner in the “New Venture” category.

The “Business of the Year” is selected from all ABEX entrants as the business demonstrating performance which is particularly outstanding and deserving of praise. The performance may represent either individual achievement or an overall success, judged according to the usual evaluation criteria of profitability, growth, stability, and investment strategy. The jury considers the relative size of the business, as well as the particular conditions affecting it.

The award to Eagle Drilling Services Ltd. includes a large sculpture commissioned by IPSCO Inc., as emblematic of the ABEX Awards. In addition, each finalist is provided with a limited edition print by Saskatchewan artist Yvette Moore entitled “Just a Matter of Time” and depicts a young boy watching his father harvest.
