Ivy Johnson, longest active life member, cuts cake
The “Coffee Party” put on the the Inchkeith Women’s Institute was greatly attended and the perfect ending to 88 years of continuous service for “Home and Country.”
The afternoon started off with the introduction of a few special guests, June Cun-ningham, Regina (formerly of Kipling) and Doreen Holden, Fertile SK (past President of the Saskatchewan Women’s Institute) who were seated at the guest register.
Then followed the reading of a letter from Wanda Var-jassy (daughter of June Cunningham and granddaughter of Mae Cunning-ham) on her memories of the institute and some of the members in it.
Marj Toppings presented a donation from the Inchkeith Women’s Institute to Lorne Rygh, accepting on behalf of the Health Foundation and to Crystal Cross accepting on behalf of the Willowdale Lodge.
The proceeds of the silver collection are going to be presented to the Kipling Youth centre at a later date.
Following the presentations, Ivy Johnson, the longest active life member, got up and did the traditional cutting of the cake.
A wonderful afternoon full of visiting, reminiscing and refreshments was had by all who attended.
