2008 Saskatchewan Summer Games Cycling Sport Contact Needed!

The 2008 Saskatchewan Summer Games will be held August 3-9 in Lloydminster. Our south east Zone 1 Team is need of Sport Contacts for Cycling. If you are involved with this sport and would like to assist with the team selection process please contact Curtis at the SESACRS office by phone 429-2205 or email: sesacrs@sasktel.net.

Indian Head Winter Festival: Indian Head is hosting its Annual Winter Festival, Saturday March 1st from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Festival will take place at Kiddies Park. Activities include: free wagon rides, skating and shinny on the outdoor rink, toboggan hill (bring your own toboggan and ride at own risk). The Indian Head and District Lions Club and The Indian Head Kidsport Committee have joined forces and will be giving out FREE hotdogs and refreshments to compliment this event.Apply for the Aboriginal Arts and Culture Leadership Grant - deadline April 15, 2008: The Aboriginal Arts and Culture Leadership (AACL) Grant aims to develop Aboriginal arts and culture leadership at the individual, group and community levels. The program builds capacity in Aboriginal communities through the development of arts and culture leaders. This creates cultural opportunities that will enhance skill development, personal growth and positive lifestyles. Summer Work Experience Program: If you are planning on hiring a student for the summer, you are encouraged to apply for the Canada Summer Jobs 2008 initiative. Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Summer Work Experience program. It provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers, and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for students between the ages of 15 and 30. Information on the grant program can be found at www1.servicecanada.gc.ca/en/epb/yi/yep/programs/scpp.shtm. The application deadline is February 29, 2008.

Softball Saskatchewan Coaching Course: In 2008 Softball Saskatchewan will no longer be offering our old Level 1 Softball Technical & Practical clinic. This is replaced by the Community Sport On-going Participation (CS-OP) clinic. This clinic is 14 hours in length and covers Technical, Practical and Theory components. Everything in one weekend! The Zone 1 clinic will be held in Moosomin, April 4th & 5th, and the cost is $110.00. You can pre-register by contacting Robert @ 435-6637.

Funding for Celebrate Canada! activities: Financial Assistance is provided to support Celebrate Canada! activities from June 21 to July 1 (including National Aboriginal Day on June 21, Saint-Jean Baptiste Day on June 24, Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27 and Canada Day on July 1). The 2008 Funding Application Form is now available on the Celebrate Canada Web site at www.pch.gc.ca/special/canada/invitation/funding_e.cfm. Participate in a Workplace Wellness Seminar: Family Services Employee Assistance programs is holding a Workplace Wellness Seminar titled “Diversity! The Strength & Challenge in the Workplace: Creating Inclusive, Respectful and Healthy Workplaces”. The seminar will examine how the changing demographics of Canadian society impact the workplace and community. The seminar will take place Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina. Softball Saskatchewan Pitching Clinic: Softball Saskatchewan’s upcoming 5-Session Pitching Clinic being held in March and April in Wapella. This clinic is for Squirt - Bantam aged players (Born 1992-1997). Please pass this information along to anyone you may think would be interested. Please note the registration deadline is February 18th. Registration forms can also be found on our website www.softball.sk.ca .
