EARTH DAY is Tuesday, April 22nd. In honour of this occasion - Kipling Industries in going to hold a swap’n’shop. Anyone interested may bring an article from home that is in good condition that you don’t need or use anymore. In return, you are able to take an article from the table. KI will put up two tables in our front entry, so that participants, staff, family, and anyone interested in participating in a 3 R (reduce, reuse and recycle) event is welcome to. Anything that is left over will be put in our “used” store.
We have been fairly busy lately and sometimes we forget to let everyone know what we have been up to. We all had an enjoyable Easter. Thank goodness for the break - we seemed to have run out of water in our one cistern and need a good rain to replenish our supply. We are off for another visit to Pusch Bros. Greenhouse in Windthorst. On the way, we are going to stop in at the Windthorst Restaurant for lunch. We are looking forward to that.
The end of March brought SARCAN’s year end. We had to send every container that we purchased off to the recycling processing centre in Regina- we were pretty empty in the back. We have attained over 1 million containers in our small depot. It did give us a chance to do some spring cleaning though. We had put off sorting through some items that were put aside when we moved in here. Now we have alot more room to store any furniture donations that we receive.
We also incorporated a “Bag Sale” in the used clothing store. The bag sale went over quite well. We are now busy putting out the spring clothes for all of you who would like to come and pick out a new wardrobe. The stock is constantly changing - so please shop often.
What does everyone do with the little tabs on the top of your pop or beer cans? Would you kindly take the time to save them and bring them in to Sarcan. Last year the Lions club was able to donate approximately $900.00 to the Diabetes Society to help with their funding. The Lions also accept old lawn chairs that are made from aluminum - webbing removed (we could provide that service of removing it), clean pie plates or any aluminum foil product. Sarcan will collect these items and help the Lions shoot for a higher dollar amount for this year.
Please watch for advertising for Sarcan’s Open House in our new location (we were waiting until the weather was nice and our building could be shown off).
