The good news is, they didn’t forget about us…

Sun Country Health after receiving a grant for $986,000 for the entire region have dedicated part of that for Kipling. On top of the patient lifts, autoclaves, EMS stretchers, Bariatric equipment and all the other things that will be purchased for the region, Kipling is receiving equipment that we can call our own. How do 14 electric beds for Willowdale Lodge and 3 acute electric beds for the Hospital sound? Well, pretty darn good.

Why do we need electric beds? Well, actually for a couple reasons, not only will it make for less workplace injuries for the care home and hospital staff, but it will also give the patients a bit of independence. Now with these electric beds, they won’t have to depend on the nursing staff so much to adjust the bed for them.

There are 28 facilities and 17 public health programs in the Sun Country Health Region and they have set aside approximately $70,000 for Kipling alone. That is something to be proud of. We are expected to receive these beds 6 to 8 weeks after the order date, which is going to hopefully be by the end of March.
