Died - Kipling, Saskatchewan on July 6, 2008
Tom Swindells, Kipling, Sask. died suddenly on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the age of 65 years. The funeral service was held in the Kipling United Church Kipling, Sask. on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Lynette Callfas officiating. Interment of cremated remains in Graytown Cemetery.
Tom and his mom moved to Regina in the fall of 1958 where he worked many jobs. From there they moved to Saskatoon until August of 1992 when they moved back to Kipling. Tom worked for Batters for a short time when the golf course was being built. He also worked for Kipling Industries and for Orin LaRose in the fall during harvesting. He worked for Mr. LaRose for years before starting work at the Kipling Landfill. When Red Coat Waste took over he was hired by them and worked Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at the landfill. Tom was still working for Kipling Industries where he helped out in Sar-Can when needed and would run errands for Kipling Industries. He also would pick up all the clients in the morning and take them all to work and then pick them up at lunch and take them home. After lunch he would pick them up for work and pick them up in the afternoon and take them all home for night. Then on Friday afternoons he would drive the Brickleys back to Kennedy for the weekend and then pick them up again on Sunday afternoon and bring them back to Kipling and drop them off at the group home. Tom had just started working for KMJ Courier Services in Kipling at nights. He hauled freight to Kennedy, Langbank, Wawota and home again five nights a week. He would haul our garbage to the landfill every Saturday morning when he went to work. Tom was a good friend to everyone that he came into contact with. He would never turn anyone away that had asked him for help whenever the help was needed.
Tom was predeceased by his parents James and Leona Swindells. He is survived by one sister Hannah (Mel Beal) Carswell, Saskatoon; one nephew Collin (Sheilah) Carswell and their family Raven, Autumn, Noah and Willow, Saskatoon and one niece Monique (Michael) Cote and their family Ryan and Jenna, Saskatoon.
The arrangements were entrusted to Keith Hawken of Tubman Cremation and Funeral Services.
True Friends
True friends are like precious diamonds
But very rare.
False ones are like autumn leaves,
Scattered everywhere.
