The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce has recently announced the 2008 ABEX Award Finalists for businesses that have been building this province throughout the past decades. For this award season, 48 businesses have taken interest in the ABEX awards and are competing for 12 awards.

Over the past 25 years, the ABEX Awards have brought attention to many of the Saskatchewan-based businesses that are not only known provincially but world-wide. This year marks the 25th Anniversary for the ABEX Awards, which invites Saskatchewan businesses, such as Seed Hawk, to apply for awards in a variety of categories.

Seed Hawk of Langbank, applied for an award in ‘The Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership Award for Exports’. In this award category, the business that receives the award is the business in which has displayed exceptional performance in exporting Saskatchewan goods and services nationally and internationally. “With the growth of the company, we may apply for more (awards) in the future,” said Pat Beaujot, owner of Seed Hawk.

Seed Hawk, a massive exporter to countries such as Sweden, Russia, Australia and the Ukraine, has managed to take the lead in the farming industry. Seed Hawk provides farmers with initiatives to market and sell their products with the help of zero till air drills, pressurized air tanks and other modern agronomic practices manufactured by Seed Hawk. Sectional Control technologies have been introduced at a Farm Progress Show recently for farmers to have the option of switching a 60-foot drill to a 30-foot drill for tight angles and small areas in the field. “In all of this we’ve been innovated in improving our machine, to work in all parts of the world,” stated Beaujot.

A European Manufacturer became a minority partner to Seed Hawk and will be working together to develop the ever-growing market outside of Canada. “It really sets us up for a good future when we can lead the farming industry here and around the world,” said Beaujot.

Seed Hawk is currently planning for their second phase of the plant for the upcoming spring season, which will prove to be a significant expansion, possibly opening more job positions.
